SCHLAM RAISES OVER $24,000 FOR MEDICAL CANCER RESEARCH

MACA Ride Social Post

With just under a month to go until the 2022 MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research, six cycling enthusiasts from Schlam are busy preparing for their epic challenge – riding 200kms from Optus Stadium to Mandurah and back, in just two days.

Our cycling dream team; Matt, Ryan, Cameron, Tom, Colleen, and Rob will take on the challenge of riding 200km this October in an effort to raise much-needed funds for vital medical cancer research.

The HARRY PERKINS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL RESEARCH is dedicated to finding answers to defeat cancer and is largely funded by the MACA Cancer 200 each year.

We have enlisted the support of some of Schlam's most passionate suppliers as sponsorsIMS our Platinum sponsor, together with SSAB, CIVMECMMA OFFSHOREMASKILL INTER GROUP,WMC ENGINEERINGMADDINGTON/CANNING VALE TOYOTA and BRAND IDEOLOGY. To date, we have raised over $24,000 and are currently sitting in the Top 50 fundraisers on the MACA ride leader board.

Independent Mining Services (IMS) are proudly getting right behind the cause. Ryan McGovern, Business Development Manager for IMS is thrilled to support the team.

“What an amazing cause and great effort by the team at Schlam! It is great to see such passionate people getting behind such an important initiative.” Ryan said.

IMS are the leaders in mining bucket repairs in the Bowen Basin and Queensland and have been in close partnership with Schlam for over 4 years. Whilst IMS offers a wide range of services that are consistent with a holistic approach to engineering repairs, IMS work with clients to offer solutions to maximise availability and reduce maintenance costs.

Representing the women of Schlam is none other than Colleen Bartle, Project Manager at Waroona.

"I am very excited to be participating in the MACA ride this year. It is wonderful to witness the overwhelming support from our sponsors and fellow Schlam colleagues.” She explains.

When asked what preparation she has done for the ride, she admits that no amount of training will ever make her feel completely “ready” for the mighty challenge ahead.

“Given this is my first year, I not sure what to expect, but I am excited for the challenge! Cancer can affect people in many ways, so I am thrilled to make a contribution to the lives of those who rely on this vital cancer research”

“I have started training more regularly at the local gym and have been doing so for the past year. The fitness sets me up for a great day!” Colleen says.

Good luck to all the riders who are participating in their year’s challenge!
