Whether it be making sure you stretch before you exercise or being willing to change plans at a moment’s notice, it helps to be flexible in life.
According to Schlam's Engineering Manager Tom Smith, flexibility is also a handy trait to have in dump truck bodies.
“The Hercules body is the original, and still the only, proven flexible dump body design on the market.
“Flex reduces stress throughout the body, enabling us to go thinner and lighter in the bodies structural components. This allows us to focus on adding material to the bodies high wear areas while still maintaining low overall body weight,” he says.
Tom notes that independent studies utilising in-field strain gauge testing have also shown a reduction in stress throughout the truck chassis because the flexible body absorbs forces.
This flex also significantly reduces carryback due to the material being unsettled during the hauling and dumping process.
“Flexible dump bodies are suitable for all mining applications, and we currently have bodies operating all over the world in a range of conditions.
“Whether it is high abrasion, high impact magnetite or lightweight coal, there is a flexible Hercules body suited to the job,” says Tom.
The Hercules is proven to enhance mining efficiency and productivity through an increased payload advantage and lower downtime. Each Hercules body is customised to mine specific requirements. The body volume is chosen for the material density of the application, and the physical details are selected for the truck model, ensuring optimum fleet performance.
